Time Keepers combines romance, art history, and time travel. The series follows Maximillian DuPont, an art historian whose life changes when ancient Roman objects reveal an impossible connection between the present and the past. Max knows how to read artifacts as evidence of vanished lives. He is much less prepared for those artifacts to pull him into history itself.

The first book, Great Caesar's Ghost, introduces Max after a breakup sends him away from New York on an antiquities-buying trip through Europe. In Rome, the discovery of objects associated with Julius Caesar opens up questions about Max's own family line and about abilities he does not yet understand. A Roman Holiday takes Max further into the consequences of that discovery. Ancient objects, Roman ancestry, and a time-travel device pull him into danger and bring new companions into his life. Sarah Goldsmith, an art historian in her own right, becomes an important partner in the adventure, helping turn the series from a lone hero's discovery into a wider story about friendship, loyalty, and shared risk.

The books use historical settings as active places rather than decorative backdrops. Readers move through Rome in several eras, encounter the weight of classical history, and later visit Renaissance Florence. In Out of Time's Abyss, a trip to the Medici court leaves the modern world changed in troubling ways. Familiar people, texts, and technologies no longer line up as they should, and Leonardo da Vinci becomes part of the effort to repair what has been disturbed.

That is the central pressure of the series: every trip offers knowledge and opportunity, but it can also fracture the timeline. Max and his circle have to balance their fascination with the past against the damage their presence may cause. Romance runs alongside the action, giving the books an adult, relationship-focused core even when the plot reaches into history.

Love in the Arc of Time continues this blend of emotional stakes and temporal adventure. The series is best read in order, beginning with Great Caesar's Ghost. That way, Max's connection to Rome, the meaning of the artifacts, and the expanding group around him all have room to develop.

Expect an imaginative, history-rich romantic adventure. The tone is curious and affectionate, with plenty of attention paid to art, architecture, culture, and the strange feeling of walking through a city where the past never seems very far away.
