Tides of War Books in Order

Tides of War is a military adventure series about young sailors and the highly trained marine mammals who work beside them. Each book draws on the real-world idea of naval animal programs, then builds a tense fictional mission around a handler, an animal partner, and a crisis at sea.

In Blood in the Water, Cory McNab is a sailor who once wanted to become a Navy SEAL but instead joins the Navy's Marine Mammals Program. His partner is Kaj, a dolphin trained for search and recovery work. When a United States spy submarine is lost in hostile waters, Cory and Kaj must use Kaj's sonar to locate it before sensitive information falls into the wrong hands.

The series changes the lead characters and animals from book to book, while keeping the same focus on trust under pressure. Honor Bound follows Felix and Sly, a sea lion assigned to help track pirates holding American hostages. Felix is supposed to keep Sly out of combat, but the mission does not go according to plan, and both are pulled into immediate danger.

Enemy Lines returns to Cory and Kaj. They work with a dolphin team on a covert operation in the Black Sea, where they must help stop a conflict before it grows. Their problem is not just mines or enemy swimmers. The opposing military also has trained dolphins, and those animals have been prepared for far more aggressive work.

The action is fast, but the books keep returning to a harder question: what does it mean to ask animals to serve in human conflicts? Handlers care deeply for their partners. They also have orders, limited time, and lives on the line. Those competing responsibilities give the stories their emotional pull.

The tone is direct and suspenseful, with underwater searches, secret missions, and military teamwork. The protagonists are young service members rather than children, so the series has a more serious edge than a typical school adventure, without losing its clear, accessible pacing.
