Series background & context
Three Kings is a holiday themed contemporary romance trilogy built around three men who once ruled their high school social scene as the homecoming king, drama king, and prom king. A decade later, life has knocked some shine off those crowns, and each man has to return home during the holidays to confront who he used to be and who he wants to become.
Homecoming King follows professional football player Rex TW McMurtry, whose ex girlfriends keep marrying the very next person they date. Tired of being the guy before the groom, he heads home and reconnects with Abby, a bartender who has quietly loved him since childhood. Their fake dating arrangement is supposed to solve his image problem and give her some financial breathing room, but the line between pretend and real affection blurs quickly.
In Drama King, movie star Cyrus Malcom is exhausted by fame and carefully curated appearances. A blind date with a woman who seems entirely unimpressed by Hollywood charm feels like a bolt of lightning. When that same woman turns out to be Bathsheba Ryan, the undercover bodyguard assigned to protect him, both are forced to juggle attraction, professionalism, and a very inconvenient snowstorm on Christmas Eve.
Prom King will round out the trilogy with the final friend, bringing the last of the kings back to his hometown for another winter homecoming. While full details are still under wraps, readers can expect the same blend of slapstick situations, earnest emotion, and second chances that define the first two books.
All three stories are loosely connected through shared history and overlapping holiday gatherings, but each can be enjoyed on its own. Together, they offer a festive mix of fake relationships, forced proximity, and the particular magic of rethinking your entire life while the town Christmas lights are blazing.
