The Salma Books in Order

Salma wants to cheer her mother with a homemade Syrian meal, but she lacks the recipe, ingredients, and English words to find them. Friends at the Welcome Center help her bring the dish and their community together.

After nearly two years apart, Salma’s father joins the family in their new country. Worried that he will miss Syria and leave again, she tries to help him settle while discovering her own feelings about having two homes.

Preparing to become a big sister, Salma decides to write a guide to siblinghood. Her mother’s conflict with her own brother complicates the project, leaving Salma wondering how families can support each other despite their differences.

Inspired by Olympic swimmer Yusra Mardini, Salma joins her school swim club. Hurtful comments about her body threaten her confidence, but encouragement from friends and family helps her work toward claiming her place in the pool.
