Series background & context

Evangeline Anderson’s Monstrum Kindred expands her Kindred universe through warriors whose appearances resemble creatures from human myth. Coming from another universe, these men face questions about whether Earth will accept them as protectors and potential partners. The series combines individual romances with a wider threat from the Darklings, destructive beings moving through breaches in space-time. Its couples must navigate physical differences alongside dangers that reach far beyond their own relationships.

Enticed by the Satyr introduces Mia, whose hopes of a musical career gave way to an abusive marriage. She dreams of a stranger who offers the tenderness missing from her life. Storn, a Satyr Monstrum, shares those dreams from a different universe and wants to reach her. When a breach creates a possible route between their worlds, he volunteers to cross it. Their connection makes an immense cosmic disturbance intensely personal.

The opening story also establishes the threat that accompanies those rifts. Darklings are overrunning other universes, and Earth may need help from warriors who look unlike the Kindred already familiar to humans. The prospect of Monstrum calling human brides introduces another uncertainty: accepting military protection and accepting intimate partnerships with those protectors may require different kinds of trust. Mia and Storn’s romance begins within that larger question of contact between worlds.

For the Monstrum, acceptance involves more than crossing a boundary in space.

Loved by the Lion follows Minister Emilia Oxley and Chief Commander Rarev. Emilia faces a failing marriage, public hostility, and menopause when the Lionus commander becomes involved in her protection. A mission to obtain mining rights for Yillium takes them to Rigellen Five, where competing couples must complete intimate trials. The mineral is needed for Earth’s defense, linking their uncertain partnership to the broader conflict. Emilia’s maturity is attractive to Rarev rather than a reason for him to look elsewhere.

Taming the Tiger brings the series back to a more secluded encounter when Christine finds a wounded man-beast trapped on her land. Roarn’s battle trauma has left him in the mental condition known as the Fury, but her presence briefly restores his clarity. His fugitive status and local trouble complicate their growing bond. Across these different couples, the novels connect new attachment with recovery from violence, loneliness, and restrictive expectations about age or appearance. Protective instincts have practical consequences, while the warriors also need forms of help their strength cannot supply. Each relationship gives the shared universe another perspective, combining explicit romance with rescue, unfamiliar cultures, and the search for safety.
