The McBride Brothers Books in Order

The McBride Brothers is a three-book historical western romance series set around Promise, Wyoming. In Promises Kept, Finding Promise, and Last Promise, Scarlett Dunn pairs each McBride brother with a woman who is trying to start over, stay alive, or prove she can make it on her own. The result is a frontier trilogy with romance at the center and plenty of danger riding alongside it.

Colt, Jake, and Luke McBride are the anchor of the series, but the books are really built on the collision between steady western life and women whose plans have gone sideways. Victoria Eastman arrives as a mail-order bride and finds her intended husband dead. Parker Promise Sinclair survives a massacre and loses her memory just when enemies are closing in. Mary Ann Hardwicke flees an arranged marriage and heads west to claim her freedom.

That setup gives Dunn room to write more than courtship. These books are about survival, land, work, and reputation. A farm or ranch can be lost. A secret from the past can wreck a new life. A cattle drive or trail journey can turn dangerous in a hurry. The romances grow out of those pressures, which makes them feel earned rather than dropped in from nowhere.

Promise, Wyoming, works as the emotional center of the trilogy even when the action spills onto wagon routes or cattle country. The town represents stability, community, and the hope of belonging. The McBride brothers are part of that promise, too. They are rugged, practical men, but Dunn does not make them invincible. Each one has to learn patience, trust, and how to make room for a strong-minded partner.

No one in this series gets an easy road.

The tone is wholesome but not weightless. There are shootings, ambushes, enemies with money or power, and the constant risk that a woman who has finally found her footing could lose it again. Faith matters here, as it does in much of Dunn's fiction, but the books also deliver solid western adventure, from ranch labor to hard travel across open country.

If you like linked romances where family bonds carry from book to book, this series is best read in order. Each novel can stand on its own, but the full trilogy gives you the deeper satisfaction of watching the McBrides build not just marriages, but a wider home around the town of Promise.
