Series background & context

The Marinesia Trilogy is a young adult fantasy adventure set between the fishing village of Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, and Marinesia, a hidden underwater world. The series follows sisters Taryn and Kaileigh Noble, along with their new neighbor Malcolm McKenna, after a strange piece of jewelry reveals that the boundary between their world and Marinesia is in danger.

The first book, The Seadrop Pendant, begins when fourteen-year-old Taryn moves from Toronto to Peggy's Cove expecting a long and uneventful summer. Instead, a pendant received on her birthday draws attention from frightening creatures. Taryn, her blind younger sister Kaileigh, and Malcolm are soon pulled into Marinesia, where they meet a clan of merfolk and learn that their arrival is no accident.

Their task is clear, even if it isn't simple. Three magical Marinesian Artifacts are needed to permanently seal a weakening Barrier between Earth and Marinesia. If the Barrier breaks, both worlds face disaster. Leviathan, an evil sea serpent, is after the same artifacts, and his Drakken make every step of the search more dangerous.

The books build around that ongoing race. The first adventure establishes the pendant as one of the artifacts and introduces the underwater setting, the merfolk, and the larger stakes. It also gives the three young heroes a reason to depend on one another, even when they are far from home and unsure whom to trust.

The Tidal Bracelet picks up a month later, with the group searching for the next artifact. Kaileigh takes the lead when Aunt Sisi arrives in Peggy's Cove and then vanishes. A switched laptop reveals that Aunt Sisi may know much more about Marinesia than anyone expected, turning the search for the Tidal Bracelet into a rescue mission as well.

Kaileigh is especially important to the series. Her blindness does not keep her outside the action, and the story treats her imagination and inner certainty as real strengths. Taryn, Malcolm, and their mermaid friends Sandy and Pike work beside her, while Leviathan's pursuit keeps the pressure on.

Expect a fast-moving quest with magical objects, underwater creatures, sibling loyalty, and a threat that reaches across two worlds. Start with The Seadrop Pendant, then continue to The Tidal Bracelet for the next stage of the artifact hunt.
