Series background & context

The Luna series follows Charlotte Montgomery, usually called Lottie, after she leaves her old life behind for a veterinary job in the small town of Lupine Valley. On paper, it sounds like a reset. In practice, it drops her straight into a hidden supernatural world full of wolves, vampires, old power, and a group of men who are far too protective to be ordinary.

Lottie starts out thinking she is human. That does not last.

A big part of the appeal here is how the series lets the truth unfold in layers. First there is the strange town, then the fated mates, then the discovery that Lottie herself is tied to a much larger legacy than she ever imagined. As the books go on, the scope widens from local oddness and personal confusion to pack leadership, supernatural politics, the Wolf Council, and the kind of threat that can tear whole communities apart.

The setting matters more than it first appears. Lupine Valley is not just a cute small town with secrets. It is a place where every relationship is tied to history, rank, and survival. Lottie is not only falling in love and finding her footing, she is also being pushed toward leadership. That creates a steady tension through the series, because her personal bonds and her public role keep colliding.

Expect a medium-burn paranormal romance with found family at its center. There are fated bonds, possessive pack dynamics, stalker danger, and a heroine who has to grow fast without losing the parts of herself that made her worth following in the first place. The emotional draw is not only the romance. It is also watching Lottie build a home in a world that first arrives as a complete shock.

By the later books, the stakes are much bigger. Explosions, rituals, old enemies, grief, healing, and the identity of the stalker all push the series toward a more intense finish. Even so, the heart of Luna stays the same from start to end: one woman trying to understand what she is, who she can trust, and what kind of leader she wants to become once fate stops asking politely.
