Series background & context

Nadia Lee’s The Kingswood Brothers is a contemporary romance series about wealthy men whose apparently manageable arrangements become emotionally complicated. The opening books use fake dating and a contractual marriage to bring different couples together. Shared family ties connect the stories, while each relationship begins with practical motives that cannot fully account for what one or both partners already feel.

One Bed with the Boss introduces Rhys Kingswood through a business trip to Tokyo with his assistant. A hotel problem leaves them sharing a suite and a bed, creating an uncomfortable closeness between a woman who has a boyfriend and the employer she considers off-limits. Discovering that her supposedly dependable boyfriend is cheating changes the situation. One impulsive night then leaves her scrambling to restore distance from Rhys rather than calmly returning to their ordinary working relationship.

Rhys offers another arrangement: she can pose as his girlfriend for a year to discourage his grandmother’s matchmaking. Housing is included, which matters because her apartment has burned down. The deal supplies an answer to immediate problems for both of them, but a pregnancy makes its proposed limits difficult to maintain. The romance combines workplace boundaries, a pretend relationship, and family interference, with the couple trying to treat an increasingly personal connection as something temporary.

A defined agreement does not mean that both people want the same thing.

The Contract Marriage follows Liam Kingswood and Olivia Desmond into an arrangement with an even sharper difference in motives. Olivia wants a husband, a contract, and a child as part of a plan to retaliate against the family that damaged her life. Liam, a diamond magnate, has loved her since college. Accepting her proposal gives him an opportunity he has wanted for years, while she insists that love has no place in their bargain. Their marriage begins with a shared signature and incompatible expectations about what lies beyond it.

The two opening romances offer contrasting Kingswood heroes: Rhys’s gruff boss-and-assistant setup differs from Liam’s long-held devotion to a woman determined to protect herself through emotional distance. Both stories ask what happens when a practical solution puts genuine attachment within reach. Silas & Hannah extends the listed sequence with another named couple. Across the series, wealth makes grand gestures and convenient arrangements possible, but it cannot remove uncertainty about trust, belonging, or being wanted for oneself. Starting with One Bed with the Boss introduces the family through Rhys before The Contract Marriage shifts to Liam’s attempt to turn an agreement into the relationship he actually desires.
