The world is rough, the magic system is bound up with runes and elements, and the tone stays dark without losing sight of relationships.

Readers who like post-apocalyptic fantasy with queer leads, dangerous magic, and a constant sense that survival can tip into destiny will probably know pretty quickly whether this is their lane. The Hunted is not gentle, and it is not tidy. That is part of the appeal.
