The Prodigal Son

by Sara Cate

2025

Isaac Goode fled his father’s pulpit and reinvented himself as Theo Vigil, a wildly successful country singer living on the road. Fame has not cured his loneliness or his fear of being outed. When he notices Jensen Miles, a quiet fan who keeps appearing at shows, a single impulsive kiss sparks a clandestine romance, only for Isaac to learn Jensen is the new preacher at his family’s church. Their tour‑bus love story forces both men to confront their pasts and decide what kind of future they want.

2

The Home Wrecker

by Sara Cate

2024

After years of doing what a good Christian husband is supposed to do, one of the Goode brothers feels his marriage quietly dying. Enter Dean Sheridan, a charming twenty‑something from his past who needs a place to stay and cannot hide his fascination with both husband and wife. What starts as a dangerous game of jealousy and temptation becomes a scorching, boundary-breaking exploration of what it might mean to rebuild a marriage instead of walking away.

3

The Heartbreaker

by Sara Cate

2024

Devoted teacher and third Goode brother, long detached from church and family, has built a life around strict routines and solitary evenings. When brilliant, stubborn student Sadie Green discovers she is pregnant and abandoned, he steps in to offer her a safe place to stay. Sharing a home turns their fraught professor-student dynamic into something more intimate, testing his ethics, her trust, and their ability to rewrite the future they thought they were stuck with.

The Anti-hero

by Sara Cate

2023

Elias Goode has spent his life as the perfect preacher’s son, destined to inherit his father’s Texas megachurch. Discovering that his father secretly frequents a local kink club shatters that image and leaves Elias furious. When the club owner’s pierced, pink-haired girlfriend Sage suggests a fake relationship designed to expose his father’s hypocrisy, their scheme spirals into real chemistry, dirty videos, and a brutal reckoning with everything he was taught about sin and desire.

Series background & context

The Goode Brothers series tracks four sons of a prominent Texas preacher as they try to rebuild their lives outside the narrow script their father wrote for them. Each book stands alone, but together they form a family saga about faith, hypocrisy, queerness, and kink in the shadow of a megachurch.

In The Anti-hero, eldest son Elias has spent his life being the perfect heir to his father’s pulpit. No scandals, no missteps, just sermons and spotless image. When he discovers that his father secretly frequents a local kink club, the betrayal shatters his beliefs about what holiness looks like. Teaming up with Sage, the club owner’s tattooed, jaded girlfriend, he agrees to a fake relationship designed to burn down his father’s reputation and his own good boy persona at the same time.

Their plan involves public appearances, carefully staged photos, and eventually explicit videos that showcase a darker side Elias did not know he possessed. The book ties religious trauma directly to sexual liberation, asking whether destruction can also clear space for something healthier.

The Home Wrecker moves to another brother, a man who has followed the expected path: find a nice girl, get married, start a family. After seven years, his marriage to Briar is quietly crumbling, full of resentment and unmet needs. When Dean, a much younger man from his past, turns up needing a place to stay, an unexpected spark flares between Dean and Briar and then between all three of them.

Jealousy, temptation, and long-buried secrets turn their household into a dangerous game, blurring the line between saving a marriage and blowing it up. The story leans into taboo married-couple-plus-one dynamics while still taking the emotional fallout seriously.

In The Heartbreaker, the most reserved brother has escaped into academia, building a life around lesson plans and strict control. When Sadie, a sharp, overwhelmed student in his class, discovers she is pregnant and abandoned by the baby’s father, he steps in to help. Moving her into his home for practical reasons only complicates matters, especially when their shared need for structure and discipline takes an erotic turn.

The Prodigal Son follows Isaac, the youngest, who has fled Austin entirely and reinvented himself as a chart-topping country star. On tour and painfully lonely, he connects with Jensen Miles, a fan who turns out to be the new preacher at his father’s church. Their secret relationship forces both men to confront their upbringing, their fears about being out, and the possibility of a very different kind of faith.

Across the quartet, Sara Cate does not offer easy redemption for the Goode patriarch or the church that shaped these men. Instead, she centers the brothers as they argue, reconcile, and decide what family is worth keeping. Expect explicit kink, complicated discussions about belief, and a lot of scenes where supposedly righteous men finally admit what they really want.
