Series background & context

The Gods Are Back In Town is Serena Akeroyd having fun with mythology. The series imagines Greek gods not as distant figures from old stories, but as powerful beings still moving through the world under different names, still making messes, and still pulling mortals into them.

The first book, Hotter than Hades, starts with Hades, Orpheus, Icarus, and a heroine who is not nearly as easy to frighten as they expect. The second book widens the fallout, bringing resurrection, identity trouble, and body-swapping chaos into the mix. So even when the setup is playful, the stakes are real.

These books are lively.

The tone is more irreverent than some of Serena Akeroyd's darker paranormal series, but the core ingredients stay the same, strong chemistry, fate, multiple powerful love interests, and a heroine who has to figure out what kind of life she wants in a world she did not know existed.

If you like myth retellings with heat, humor, and why choose romance, this series is an easy recommendation. Start with Hotter than Hades and read forward, because the second book builds directly on what the first sets in motion.
