The First Of The Mountain Men Books in Order

Driven from Yellowstone by a deliberately set forest fire, Rory’s extended family scatters before reuniting near Taos. Turning from trapping and trading to ranching offers a new beginning, but adapting their hard-earned skills to settled life proves difficult.

Freed after killing his family’s murderers, former marshal Clay heads west with his brother and little hope. Captivity and injury test his determination, until Rory’s help offers a chance to become something beyond a man shaped by vengeance.

Fleeing Ireland after killing an English officer, Rory spends years fighting in France before seeking another life in America. Marriage into a Crow family draws him into mountain living, where new responsibilities compete with the violence he hoped to escape.

A gifted artist abandons comfort to document life in the West under Rory’s guidance. Hunting expeditions, mountain gatherings and encounters with local peoples provide material, until a threat to Rory’s Yellowstone home turns observation into a shared struggle.

Threats to his family’s ranch lead Eli to follow dismissed troublemakers and eventually join the Texas Rangers. Finding purpose in the new role, he pursues rustlers and outlaws while his aging father Rory continues defending the family at home.

Framed for rustling while collecting horses in Texas, Rory’s daughter Cara proves capable of handling danger herself. A retreat to the mountains brings further challenges, turning her search for respite into an apprenticeship in the life her father knows.
