Series background & context
The Fallen World is a dark alien romance series set on an Earth transformed by invasion. The Vepar have taken control, humans have lost the safety of their old lives, and survival means understanding rules imposed by a species with far more power. That bleak starting point gives the series its urgency.
Ella Monroe is not looking for romance. She is looking for a way to live.
The first book, Bound, introduces Ella and the three Vepar men whose attention pulls her into a dangerous new reality. They may be protectors, captors, or something in between. Ella cannot afford to assume the best of anyone, especially when every choice carries a cost.
As the story moves through Broken, Betrayed, and Belong, the setting opens up into larger conflicts involving alien power, hidden dangers, blood bonds, and off-world threats. Ella's relationship with the three men remains at the center, but the books keep testing whether desire can coexist with trust in a world shaped by conquest and secrecy.
This is a why-choose romance, yet the emotional story is tied closely to Ella's fight for agency. She is not simply choosing among love interests. She is trying to decide what kind of future she can build after everything familiar has been taken away.
The world has fallen, but the story keeps moving.
Start with Bound. The series works best in order, because the revelations about the Vepar, Ella's changing position, and her complicated relationships all build from one book to the next.
