Series background & context

The Evolution of Sin Trilogy begins with one reckless choice and keeps following the fallout. At the center is Giselle Moore, an artist trying to step into a new life, and Sinclair, an older French businessman who offers her a brief, no-strings affair that turns out to be anything but temporary.

The first book has the sweep of a holiday romance, at least on the surface. There is travel, heat, glamour, and the thrill of wanting someone you know you probably should avoid. But that easy fantasy never lasts long. Once Giselle leaves Mexico and starts building her life in New York, the affair stops being private and starts threatening the people closest to her.

That is really the heart of the trilogy. This is not just a story about chemistry. It is a story about secrecy, guilt, and what happens when desire collides with family. Giselle is not floating through the books untouched. She is trying to make art, reconnect with the people she loves, and figure out what kind of woman she wants to be, even as her relationship with Sinclair gets harder to defend.

The settings do a lot of work here. The series moves through Cabo, New York City, and Paris, and each place changes the mood. It starts hot and impulsive, turns secretive and tense, then widens into something more emotionally bruised. There is also a BDSM element in the relationship, so the power dynamic is part of the story from the beginning, not just decoration.

This is the Lombardi world before it fully spreads out.

If you like your romance angsty, complicated, and openly messy, this trilogy will probably appeal. The books are romantic, but they are not neat. Giselle and Sinclair hurt each other. They hurt other people too. Darling leans into that discomfort instead of sanding it down.

Read all three in order. The payoff comes from watching a secret affair grow into something much heavier, and seeing whether the people inside it can live with the consequences. That is the promise right there in the series title. Love changes them, but not cleanly.
