The Charge Men Books in Order

The Charge Men series is Rachel Robinson's take on bodyguard romance with a romantic-suspense edge. The central idea is built into the name: a Charge Man is assigned to protect a principal, but the job becomes much harder when the person being guarded is also the one person he cannot stop thinking about.

Protection is supposed to come with rules.

The first book, The Love You Hate, introduces Nate Sullivan and Presley Cohen. Presley has entered a protection program after her father's actions make her a target, leaving behind the wealthy, public life she once knew for Gold Hawke, Colorado. Nate's job is to keep her alive without telling her that he is her bodyguard. Presley is restless, funny, determined to make the most of a life that suddenly feels small, and not at all interested in doing what Nate tells her.

That makes their relationship an enemies-to-lovers story as well as a protector romance. Nate wants order, distance, and a safe outcome. Presley wants freedom, experiences, and a chance to reclaim control of her own choices. Their clash is part banter and part real danger, because the reason she is in hiding has not disappeared.

The Lies You Love moves to Beck and Auden. Beck's work schedule has taught him to divide his life into months on duty and months off. After a one-night stand turns out to be with his principal's best friend, his carefully managed boundaries become impossible to maintain. Auden is still trying to recover after a painful breakup, and a short-term arrangement seems safer than hoping for more.

It is not safer for long.

The series keeps its attention on the strain between professional duty and personal attachment. These men are trained to anticipate threats and make hard calls. The women at the center of the books are not passive clients, though. They have their own fears, opinions, mistakes, and reasons for resisting the people trying to manage their safety.

Both books are full-length standalones with separate couples, so readers can begin with either one. Starting with The Love You Hate is still useful because it explains the Charge Men setup and establishes the tone: sharp chemistry, people with secrets, danger that reaches into personal relationships, and plenty of arguments before anyone admits what they want.

Expect contemporary romance with suspense rather than a procedural thriller. The real stakes come from the threat around each principal, but also from whether a protector can do his job without treating love as another risk to contain.
