Tatsu Yamada Books in Order

After plague and war reshape the world, Japan’s refugee districts shelter people with uncertain futures. Sergeant Tatsu Yamada works the Chiba Refugee Zone, policing a fragile community where keeping conditions from deteriorating can feel like the best possible outcome.

Women are being murdered in Chiba, and a Noh mask offers a troubling clue. Tatsu Yamada investigates while jurisdictional disputes and political interference complicate the search, with a missing cat adding another problem to his workload.

Tatsu Yamada believes police work should remain separate from politics. When circumstances challenge that principle, he must confront the uncomfortable possibility that doing his job will require entering territory he would prefer to avoid.
