Tales of the Terran Republic is the broad label for Charles E Gannon's larger future setting, the one many readers also call the Caineverse. At the center is a twenty-second-century humanity that has reached the stars, made first contact, and learned very quickly that the galaxy is crowded, political, and not especially interested in giving newcomers an easy welcome.

The main Caine Riordan novels are the most direct path into that world. They follow an intelligence analyst turned diplomat, problem-solver, and unwilling lightning rod for interstellar trouble. Those books handle the big backbone of the setting: first contact, alliance-building, alien civilizations, buried history, and the constant risk that one bad decision could become a species-level mistake.

But the setting does not stay locked to Caine.
