Switched at First Kiss Books in Order

This is a middle grade fantasy series that starts with a great premise and then follows the consequences with a grin. Lena Perris is an eighth grader with a secret job as a soul collector. Marcus Torelli has a secret too: he is a cupid, or at least a version of one, responsible for helping love along. When a dare leads to a kiss, their powers switch, and normal middle school problems suddenly collide with the machinery of love and death.

Lena and Marcus are a fun contrast. Lena is practical, organized, and not especially interested in drama. Marcus is warmer, more impulsive, and already used to thinking with his heart. Once the swap happens, each of them has to manage powers that do not match their personality at all. That is where much of the comedy comes from, but it is also where the series finds its emotional center.

It is basically a supernatural mess built on first feelings.

The first book, I'm with Cupid, is the big swap setup. After that, the series keeps raising new problems instead of simply resetting everything. In Finders Reapers, the powers may be back where they belong, but Lena and Marcus learn that love and death are still tangled together in awkward, dangerous ways. Match Me If You Can pushes things further when their abilities disappear and start showing up in other people.

The world around them stays grounded even when the magic gets strange. School, parents, crushes, jealousy, assignments, and reputation all matter. That balance is part of the charm. These are not books about ancient prophecies or giant battle scenes. They are books about trying to survive adolescence when your job description also includes cosmic balance.

The tone is light, fast, and romantic in a tween way, but Staniszewski does not ignore the bigger ideas hiding inside the setup. Because Marcus deals in attraction and Lena deals in souls, the books get to poke at what it means to care for someone, let someone go, or try to control feelings you do not fully understand.

Read the trilogy in order, because each book builds on the relationship and magical fallout from the last one. If you like quick fantasy with banter, awkward crush energy, and just enough danger to keep things moving, this series is a good fit.
