Author bio

Susan Arden was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Before she published romance, she taught school and earned an M.S. Ed. in TESOL. That mix of classroom work and language study fits the way her novels read, fast-moving, emotional, and very focused on how people talk, clash, and give themselves away.

Writing seems to have come out of reinvention.

In author bios and personal notes, Arden talks about grief, remarriage, and the kind of life change that makes you start over whether you planned to or not. She has written about falling hard for romance, taking fiction classes, and discovering that writing was not just a side interest. It became the place where risk, escape, and hard-earned hope could all live on the same page.

A lot of readers first meet her through the McLemore family books. Tempted by Trouble brings veterinarian Carolina Rodriguez to a Texas ranch where dead cattle, fake dating, and a stubborn rancher keep the pressure high. Her Forever Cowboy turns to Stephen McLemore and Jillian Sinclair for a second-chance story, while Girls' Night Out mixes bad-boy football glamour with holiday energy, fame, and tabloid trouble.

Those books show Arden's sweet spot. She likes close-knit families, big emotions, and practical worlds with real jobs attached to the fantasy. Ranch work, cattle problems, dance studios, media pressure, blackmail, political families, all of it matters. The chemistry matters too, of course, but so does the feeling that these characters have history, obligations, and reputations to manage.

Cowboys are only part of the picture.

Arden also writes paranormal romance. In Collared for a Night and the Rocky Mountain Shifters stories, widowed leopard shifters, wolves, vampires, and private clubs collide in a modern supernatural world. Dragon Heart pushes that side of her writing further, pairing leopard shifter Shay Barclay with ex-Navy SEAL and dragon shifter Drake O'Connor in a story full of family politics, forbidden attraction, and fallout that lasts long after one reckless choice.

Her newer work shows she is just as interested in power plays outside the ranch or shifter scene. Seduced by the Senator drops readers into money, politics, family control, and a risky connection between Xavia Stillman Kennedy and Senator Bennett Stone. Even when the setting changes, the core tension feels familiar: two people want each other, but the world around them is ready to make them pay for it.

She describes her style as fictional realism, and that fits her best books pretty well. Arden's stories are hot, but they are also built around outside pressure, family loyalties, work problems, grief, secrecy, old wounds, or plain bad timing. Her couples usually have to fight through something concrete before they can claim a happy ending, which gives the romance a little grit.

These days, her bios place her in Tennessee with her husband, three daughters, and a lot of animals. She has taught, worked on projects tied to environmental engineering, and written about farm life as part of her everyday world. She has also shared smaller details, like preferring bright candy to chocolate, liking iced coffee, knitting, and generally sounding much happier around kids and animals than around politicians.
