Sundering Books in Order

The Sundering is not a single-protagonist series. It is a big Realms event, written across multiple books by several authors, and built around a world that is shifting under everyone's feet. Gods are active, old damage is being answered, and Faerun is moving through one of those rare moments when history stops feeling stable.

That makes the line feel broader than a normal sequence of novels. Different books look at different regions, factions, and kinds of heroes, but they are all reacting to the same larger upheaval. If you already like the Forgotten Realms, The Sundering is where you go to watch the setting itself become the story.

Ed Greenwood's contribution, The Herald, lands at the end of that arc and feels like Greenwood in full Realms mode. Storm Silverhand and Elminster are deeply involved, Myth Drannor matters, and the tension comes from both battlefield danger and much older magical currents finally breaking the surface.

This is event fantasy, not a quiet side quest.

Readers usually get the most from The Sundering if they treat it as a crossover rather than a tidy standalone series. You can read Greenwood's book by itself, but it lands harder when you know that the Realms has been heading toward this collision for a while.
