Author bio
Stephanie Andrassy is a Canadian author from Ontario whose fiction sits between romance, fantasy, and the paranormal. She earned a B.A. from the University of Guelph, and her public author profiles place her in southern Ontario with her family. She has also described herself, very plainly, as a serious coffeeholic, an avid reader, and a proud mom of three.
Writing started early. Andrassy has said she wrote her first book in elementary school through a future authors program run by her school. It was a children's story, professionally bound but not published, and the experience stayed with her. She has been writing in one form or another ever since.
For her, writing was not a sudden reinvention. It was already there.
Before publishing fiction, she worked for many years in social housing. That background fits the way she talks about stories. She notices emotion, small gestures, hard choices, and the ordinary details that reveal who people really are. She has said she is happiest inside a writing bubble, unless someone offers a trip to shop for office supplies.
Her first published novel was Noble Lies in 2012. It is a fantasy romance built around arranged matches, Church power, family pressure, and a love story that quickly stops looking like a fairytale. Readers who connect with it tend to like that mix of romance, danger, and a fully imagined world where duty and desire keep colliding.
Then came The White Peacock, a short story she originally wrote as a break while working on the planned sequel to Noble Lies. Instead of staying small, it opened a much bigger project. That story became the starting point for the Home series, beginning in full with Just Live, Juliette!, then continuing with Rocks Don't Cry, Rhapsody in Red, and Always and Evermore. Across those books, Andrassy mixes afterlife mystery, friendship, heartbreak, and romance.
It started as a detour and turned into four novels.
Andrassy has said she likes long books, rich description, and third-person narration because it lets the story see more than one character can. That preference shows in her work. Even when the premise is supernatural, the real pull is human. Her characters are usually trying to make sense of love, secrets, guilt, memory, and the lives they thought they understood.
She has also described herself as a wide-ranging reader, happy to move from fantasy and romance to drama, suspense, women's literature, and nonfiction. That range helps explain why her books do not sit neatly in one box. She has said she does not think of herself as only a fantasy writer, and her stories often blur genre lines in a very natural way.
The public picture that comes through is warm and grounded. Family matters to her. So do animals, nature, coffee, and the steady habit of reading. Those small facts do some quiet work in understanding her books. However strange the premise gets, Andrassy keeps returning to very familiar human needs: connection, honesty, second chances, and the hope of finding a place that finally feels like home.
