Star Wars Outlaws Books in Order

ND-5 is a big part of the hook. As a former Separatist commando droid, he already carries old war wiring into a new imperial age. He is built for loyalty and violence, but Mike Chen uses that setup to ask a more interesting question than simple action spectacle. What does loyalty mean when your orders are broken, your war is over, and the one person you protect may also be using you? That gives the book a buddy-story shape, but not an easy or sentimental one.

The setting matters too. The pair move through scoundrel territory, among bounty hunters, syndicates, and people living by leverage rather than ideals. That gives the novel a scrappier tone than a lot of Star Wars fiction. Credits, reputation, and information matter as much as firepower. Every score can solve a problem and create three more.

It is also designed to work on its own.

So if you have played Star Wars Outlaws, this adds weight to two key figures. If you have not, it still reads as a character-first crime story set in the Empire years.
