Star Wars: Crimson Reign Books in Order

Star Wars: Crimson Reign is the middle chapter of Charles Soule's Qi'ra trilogy, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It follows the leader of Crimson Dawn as she steps out from the criminal underworld and begins a much more dangerous campaign against the Empire and the Sith.

Qi'ra is not trying to beat Darth Vader or Emperor Palpatine in a simple fight. She knows that would be impossible. Instead, she works through information, spies, old grudges, rival syndicates, and people the Empire has overlooked. Her plan spreads outward through the galaxy, creating trouble in places the Imperial machine assumed it controlled.

It is a crime story with galactic consequences.

The series brings in the Knights of Ren, bounty hunters, Imperial figures, and familiar faces from other Star Wars comics. But the heart of it is Qi'ra. Her history with Han Solo matters, though this is not a reunion story. She has built a life and a power base of her own, and the books are interested in the cost of using either one against a tyrant.

This sits after War of the Bounty Hunters, where Qi'ra re-enters the story by taking Han Solo's carbonite-frozen body from Boba Fett. It leads into Hidden Empire, which closes the trilogy. Reading those three events in sequence gives the cleanest version of the larger arc.

Expect schemes, betrayals, and a lot of pressure on characters who cannot afford to trust easily. The tone is tense and shadowy, with a criminal-world point of view on the familiar war between rebels and the Empire.
