The Stuff of Dreams

by James Swallow

2013

The Doctor faces a mystery where imagination, danger, and reality start to blur. It is a compact Doctor Who adventure built around an eerie premise and the Doctor's refusal to let fear win.

Series background & context

James Swallow's Next Generation-era stories usually come through connected lines: Titan, Picard, and Coda. They use familiar characters after the television and film years, when command, family, and history have become more complicated.

The Dark Veil is a strong entry if you want the road toward Star Trek: Picard, especially Riker and Troi before the series begins. The Ashes of Tomorrow belongs to the large Coda event, so it is better after some broader novel continuity.

These books are for readers who enjoy seeing what happens after the credits, when old crews keep changing and old choices keep echoing.
