These books widen the setting nicely, because they show that the problems in Spellster are not limited to the margins. Power can be just as dangerous at court.

Then there are the stories that work on a smaller scale and show the edges of the world. Someone Else's Shoes folds a Cinderella shape into the setting and uses it to talk about inheritance, status, and the danger of being visibly different. Willow and The Leap to Freedom are shorter, but they matter because they bring dwarven and elven perspectives into view. Together they make the world feel less like a backdrop and more like a place where every group is carrying a different kind of risk.
