Series background & context

The Soldier series is an early set of military-romance novellas that follows the relationship between Meghan Jones and Major Trent Harrison. Their story begins in Christmas with a Soldier, when a snowstorm strands Meghan, a single mother, and Trent, who has returned home to say goodbye to his father.

Their first meeting is not smooth. A blocked road, bad weather, and a remote cabin leave two strangers with nowhere else to go. What begins as a difficult night turns into an unexpected connection, but both have reasons to be cautious about what happens when the storm passes.

It starts at Christmas, but their story does not end there.

Valentine From A Soldier, In the Arms of a Soldier, Return of a Soldier, and Summer with a Soldier continue the series through changing seasons and new stages of commitment. The books are shorter than Jameison's later SEAL novels and are best read in sequence because they revisit the same characters and the progress of their relationship.

The tone is intimate and direct. Rather than building an entire team world, these novellas stay close to the challenges of making room for love when work, family, loss, and distance are already part of daily life. Trent's military career matters, but Meghan and her daughter are just as important to the story's emotional center.

Readers can expect holiday atmosphere, reunions, relationship turning points, and a continuing couple rather than a new pair in every book. That makes Soldier a little different from the author's later standalone-heavy series.

Start with Christmas with a Soldier. It introduces Meghan, Trent, and the circumstances that bring them together, then the remaining books show what happens after that one unexpected night.
