Series background & context
The Social Media series takes a very online premise and turns it into a full serial romance. At the center are Grace Kinsella, who is far bolder behind a screen than she is in person, and Vaughn Asher, a former child actor turned major movie star who is used to being watched but not necessarily known.
The first spark comes from distance. Grace can flirt, joke, and say outrageous things through social media because that version of herself feels protected. Vaughn is the fantasy on the other end of that connection, until the books start forcing fantasy into the real world. Once they meet face to face, the tone shifts from witty and playful to much more intimate, messy, and emotionally risky.
One thing that makes this series different from Huss's longer novels is the installment structure. The story is told across six shorter books, so the beats are quick and the tension keeps refreshing. Online identity, celebrity image, control, desire, privacy, and the problem of turning a digital fantasy into an actual relationship all get space to matter.
It is a serial on purpose.
If you enjoy stories about public versus private selves, famous people who are more damaged than they look, and heroines who have to decide whether real life can match the version they built in their head, Social Media is a fun one to follow. It is steamy, contemporary, and very aware of how much people reveal when they think they are hiding behind a screen.
