Slayer opens a more vampire-hunter-focused corner of Leia Stone's catalog. Stella Adams begins from a rough, human-scale place. She is aging out of the foster system and hoping for something as ordinary as a decent birthday and a fresh start. Instead, a vampire crashes that night and tries to drain her dry.

So much for ordinary.

The rescue comes from Asher Voss, a broody vampire hunter who informs Stella that vampires are real and she is not just another unlucky girl. She is part of a legacy. That sends her into Nightguard Academy, a secret school for hunters, and gives the series its main shape right away. Hidden world, dangerous training, emotionally closed love interest, and a heroine carrying a secret that could get her killed by her own side.

That last part is what gives the premise real potential. Stella is not only learning to fight monsters. She is also trying to keep part of herself hidden in a place built to punish exactly the wrong kind of truth. That should give the series a good mix of academy tension and identity danger, which is very much a Leia Stone lane.

If you like vampire hunter stories with a school framework, secret heritage, and romance that arrives with sharp edges, this page is a useful one to watch.
