If you come to Snow for strong heroines and do not mind her turning the darkness up several notches, Sin and Lies is a good example of where her later work goes. It is angrier, more violent, and more openly interested in vengeance than her earlier contemporary romances. Still, the thing that anchors it is familiar. At the center is a woman who refuses to stay broken, even when everyone around her would prefer obedience.
