She-Hulk, Vol. 1: Jen, Again
by Rainbow Rowell

Series background & context
She-Hulk (2022) drops Jennifer Walters into a reset. After years of world ending crossovers and personal setbacks, Jen has lost her high profile job and fancy apartment. What she still has is a law degree, friends who mostly believe in her and the stubborn idea that her life can feel like her own again.
In Jen, Again, the first trade, Jen starts over in New York with a small firm and a smaller wardrobe, taking whatever work she can get. Supervillain exes show up asking for favors, old rivals needle her about her reputation, and a secretive client dumps something incredibly dangerous into her lap. Then Jack of Hearts, a long dead Avenger and former love interest, literally crashes back into her life with unstable powers and nowhere else to go.
The second volume, Jen of Hearts, leans into that mix of courtroom drama and superhero chaos. Nightcrawler stops by the office with a bizarre legal question, cosmic stakes creep into what ought to be routine cases, and the mystery surrounding Jack’s return deepens. New antagonists quietly assemble in the background, targeting Jen in ways that hit both her personal life and her sense of professional ethics.
Girl Can't Help It amps up the romance and the danger. A masked thief called Scoundrel keeps outmuscling She-Hulk during a string of glamorous robberies, and their banter feels too much like flirting for comfort. While Jen digs into his past and his motives, her found family of fighters has to defend New York from an alien incursion without her full attention.
Rowell then relaunches the book as Sensational She-Hulk, collected in Jen-Sational and All In. These stories bring Jen’s cousin the Hulk crashing into her cases, send Jen and Jack on an ill fated space vacation and stage one unforgettable girls’ night out with Hellcat and Captain Marvel that turns into a battle for their very souls. Through it all, Jen is trying to hold together a law practice, a relationship and a sense of self that is not defined only by smashing things.
The tone is light on its feet, full of jokes and bright colors, but it keeps circling real questions about burnout, boundaries and what it means to be taken seriously.
You can start with She-Hulk, Vol. 1: Jen, Again without reading earlier She-Hulk runs, then follow the trades in order as the cast grows. The series is as interested in lunch dates, office politics and awkward romance as it is in supervillain punch ups, which makes it a friendly on ramp if you like character driven superhero stories that remember the hero has to clock in to work the next morning.
