Series background & context

Set in late nineteenth-century Wisconsin, this series stays close to the Sittig family and the rough little community of Idyll Wood. These are sweet historical romances, but they do not ignore the harder edges of the place. Logging camps, isolated farms, a backwoods sheriff, and women arriving with more courage than certainty all shape the stories.

The books mix marriage-of-convenience setups with family loyalty, local gossip, and real danger. One story may follow a man keeping a painful secret, while another turns on a woman trying to sort gratitude from love. A shadow of crime hangs over the town, so romance and suspense tend to travel together.

If you like small-town frontier fiction with faith, mystery, and a strong Wisconsin sense of place, Idyll Wood has that feel.
