Series background & context

The Secrets series is one of Ella Goode's younger, school-set worlds, but it is less about first crush nerves than it is about what people hide. Old feelings, fake dating, family trouble, and the things nobody says out loud all drive these books. The result is a set of romances that feel immediate and emotional, with more tension coming from silence and history than from huge external plots.

The title is not subtle, and that is a good thing.

In No More Secrets, the story begins with a first love that started in the teen years and refuses to stay buried. Secret Love brings in a guarded, not especially friendly hero who finds himself unable to stay detached when the right girl is in front of him. Keeping Secrets goes fully into fake-dating territory, pairing football player Van with Fleur, who already has every reason not to trust a jock's motives.

What links the books is the way private feelings keep getting dragged into daylight. These characters are young, but the emotional logic is sharp. Someone has been hurt before. Someone is pretending not to care. Someone thinks they can keep control if they keep quiet. Then attraction turns the whole plan upside down.

The setting also helps. School sports, social reputation, shared history, and the constant closeness of teenage life make it hard for anyone to stay hidden for long. That gives the series a nice pressure-cooker effect without needing giant dramatic twists in every book.

If you want high school romance with fake dating, old crushes, and the steady unraveling of things people were sure they could keep secret, this series is a solid choice.

It is youthful, but the emotional stakes still land.
