Series background & context

Seasons of Change is a multi-author Regency series about fresh starts. The title says most of what you need to know. Each story begins with a life in motion, or a life forced to move when the heroine or hero would rather stay where things are familiar.

That creates a softer kind of series tension. The conflict is still romantic, but it is also about adaptation. New homes, new roles, new neighbors, and old wounds all have to be managed at the same time.

Stockton's book is A Forgiving Heart. Kate Kingston inherits an estate and must leave the life she knows behind, only to land in a place that stirs up old memories and new uncertainty. Two brothers, Peter and Martin Evans, stand near the center of that uncertainty, which gives the romance a small triangle shape while also letting the book work in estate management and a thread of mystery.

What is appealing about a series like this is the balance. You get the comfort of Regency romance, but the heroines are not simply waiting to be chosen. They are often being uprooted, tested, and asked to build something new.

If you like country settings, change-of-life plots, and romance that grows out of practical upheaval, this is a good fit.
