Author bio

Sara Richardson writes love stories with a lot of sky in them. Her books tend to land in mountain towns, ranch country, and close-knit communities where people are carrying a little hurt, a little hope, and usually more feelings than they planned on admitting.

Colorado shows up again and again in her fiction, and it doesn't feel accidental. Ranches, rodeos, snowy towns, hiking trails, inns, and wide-open spaces are a big part of the mood in her romances. Even when the plot is busy, the setting still gets room to breathe.

Before she published novels, she worked a mix of jobs that reads a bit like a list of ways to collect story material: communications manager, copywriter, magazine editor, and whitewater rafting guide. That range makes sense once you read her books. They feel polished, but they also like motion, outdoor life, and people who know how to get their hands dirty.

A master's degree in journalism helped push her toward storytelling, and she wrote her first novel not long after.

That first novel was No Better Man, the opening book in her Heart of the Rockies series. It introduced the blend she would return to often: romance, family pressure, small-town warmth, and characters trying to move past the thing that knocked them off course. The book was later nominated for a RITA Award in the Best First Book category, which gave her debut a strong early spotlight.

From there, she kept building out connected romance worlds. In Something Like Love and More Than a Feeling, she stayed in Aspen and the Walker Mountain Ranch orbit, pairing emotional backstory with mountain-town romance. Then came the Rocky Mountain Riders books, including Hometown Cowboy, Comeback Cowboy, and Renegade Cowboy, which leaned harder into rodeo life, cowboy energy, and the push-pull between independence and putting down roots.

She also widened her range. Home for the Holidays and The Summer Sisters bring more family drama into the mix, with sisters, old feuds, and an inn at the center of the story. The Silverado Lake and Star Valley books keep the western romance feel but add new shades, second-chance love, widows and single parents, former Navy SEALs trying to figure out civilian life, and women who are building lives on their own terms before romance complicates things.

She didn't stay in one lane, either.

Her official author bio also notes that she writes as Eliza Evans, which fits the way her career has shifted over time while still circling the same big interests: love, friendship, family, and fresh starts. Readers who pick up her work usually know what they're coming for, heartfelt romance, likable communities, and people learning that vulnerability is sometimes the bravest move in the room.

These days, she lives in the Upper Midwest with her husband, two sons, and two fur babies. When she isn't writing, she has said she loves travel, adventure, and teaching Pilates, which feels very on-brand for an author whose books are full of movement, energy, and characters trying not to sit still for too long.
