Series background & context
San Antonio Security follows the Patterson brothers, four men who survived difficult childhoods in foster care before being adopted into one family. As adults, they have turned their hard-earned skills into a private security business in San Antonio, Texas. They investigate threats, protect vulnerable clients, and bring their whole found family into the work when a case turns dangerous.
The series begins with Texas Bodyguard: Luke. Luke Patterson is reunited with Claire, a girl he once tried to protect when they were both young. Her arrival brings a murder investigation and danger to the door of the security firm. The later books give Brax, Weston, and Chance their own high-risk cases and romances.
These are fast, case-driven romantic suspense novels.
The brothers' shared past matters as much as the action. They are not related by blood, but their loyalty to each other is absolute. New partners and children are welcomed into that circle, while old wounds around abandonment, trust, and belonging give each story an emotional center.
Each novel has its own couple and central investigation, so it can work as a standalone. Reading in order is still rewarding because the family grows, recurring characters get more page time, and the larger consequences of the brothers' cases carry forward. Expect protective heroes, women who have reasons to be cautious, criminal threats, and a warm family home waiting after the danger is over.
Start with Texas Bodyguard: Luke for the Patterson family story from the beginning.
