Sam and Indie Books in Order

The Sam and Indie books grow naturally out of the Sam Prichard series, but they develop a flavor of their own. Sam is older, more settled in some ways, and surrounded by a larger family and team structure. Indie is no longer just the hacker who helps crack a case. She is fully central. Together they give the series a warmer, weirder, and sometimes more openly playful energy than the earlier private-investigator books.

Beauregard, who started as an odd presence around the family, becomes more important, and later books are willing to lean further into ghostly or seemingly supernatural elements without giving up their mystery-thriller spine. That can make the series feel unusual in a good way. One book may deal with an old government cover-up. Another may ask Sam to prove whether a ghost is real. Another sends the family into murders linked to abandoned buildings, hidden histories, or strange local legends.

Windlass Security also helps shape the later books. Sam is no longer just a lone PI. He has more resources, more people, and more responsibility. That changes the scale. The stories can bring in tech theft, security work, serial crimes, and broader conspiracies without losing the familiar core of Sam and Indie trying to protect people and get the truth before someone powerful buries it.

The relationship between the two leads is the real anchor. Sam’s steadiness and stubborn decency pair well with Indie’s brains, nerve, and emotional sharpness. Around them, the supporting cast keeps the books lively, and even when the cases go dark, the series usually remembers humor, affection, and family chaos.

If you like mysteries that start from a familiar home base and then wander into larger, stranger, or more high-concept territory, this series is a good fit. It helps a lot to have read at least some Sam Prichard first, because the emotional history pays off.
