The second book, Take the D Train, continues Sally's New York story. Together, the two novels offer a shorter, more hard-edged companion to Lydia Adamson's later animal mysteries. They were published under Franklin B. King's own name, Frank King, before the Lydia Adamson pseudonym became associated with Alice Nestleton and the other series.

Read Sleeping Dogs Die first, then Take the D Train. The series is brief, but it has a clear point of view: an actress with too many dogs, too little money, and no intention of abandoning a friend when something feels wrong.
