Author bio

Ruth Cardello grew up in a very big family in northern Rhode Island, the youngest of 11 children. That kind of start shows up all through her books. Her romances may feature billionaires, princes, and inherited fortunes, but they are just as often about siblings, loyalty, old hurt, and the strange way families keep pulling people back together.

Before writing full time, she spent 20 years as an educator, including 11 years as a kindergarten teacher.

Then life changed. When her school district began cutting jobs, she took a hard look at writing, the thing she had loved alongside teaching, and decided to give it a real chance. It was not a hobby anymore. It became the work.

That became the turning point.

Her own path had already been a little restless. She spent her young adult years moving far from her large extended family and lived in places including Boston, Paris, Orlando, and New York before circling back to New England. That mix of escape and return helps explain why so many of her characters are torn between the life they built and the people they cannot quite leave behind.

A few books later, Maid for the Billionaire helped launch the connected romance world many readers now know her for. In 2012, her books reached the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists. From there she kept building outward with series like Come Away with Me, Always Mine, The Broken One, and later family branches such as the Barrington, Corisi, and Westerly books.

What readers usually respond to is pretty clear. Cardello likes high-powered heroes, sharp heroines, big family networks, and just enough trouble to keep a happy ending from coming too easily. Even when the setup is glossy, private islands, luxury towers, royal pressure, billionaire drama, the emotional center is usually simple: two people learning how to trust, and a family learning how to make room for them.

She also writes with a sense of connection that rewards reading across series. A side character in one book can become the heart of another. A wedding, a scandal, or an old family wound can ripple outward for years. That gives her romance world a soap-free, very readable momentum. You can start almost anywhere, but there is extra fun in watching the families grow.

These days, she has said she lives one town over from where she was born. When she is not writing, she has talked about chasing her children around a small farm, riding horses, and spending time with readers online. It is a grounded picture, which feels right for a writer whose books love glamour but keep coming back to home.
