Author bio

Rosie Danan writes romances that begin with a wild premise and then dig into the mess underneath, shame, work, loneliness, identity, and desire. She is an American writer living in London, and her books move between contemporary and paranormal rom-coms. She is a USA Today bestselling, award-winning author whose work has been optioned for film and translated into ten languages.

She likes big feelings, sharp banter, and people who don't quite fit.

Her breakout came with The Roommate in 2020. On paper, it is a high-concept setup about a polished socialite ending up with a roommate whose job shocks her. In practice, it is also about growing up, owning desire, and dropping the script other people wrote for you. That mix, heat, comedy, and emotional honesty, helped define Danan's lane.

She followed it with The Intimacy Experiment, which takes Naomi Grant, a standout supporting character from The Roommate, and gives her a romance with Rabbi Ethan Cohen. The book widens Danan's world without losing its close focus. It is funny and sexy, but it also spends real time on faith, community, reputation, and the gap between the self people see and the self that is still being figured out.

Those first two books made it clear she was less interested in neat labels than in human complications.

A turning point in her publishing path came through Pitch Wars, where she was a 2018 mentee and later returned as a mentor in 2019 and 2020. It is a small detail, but a telling one. Danan found her footing in romance, then quickly became part of the community helping other writers find theirs.

Danan did not stay in one mode. With Do Your Worst, she moved into a spooky Scottish castle romance about a curse breaker and a disgraced archaeologist, bringing in adventure, folklore, and gleeful chaos. Then Fan Service pushed further into paranormal rom-com, mixing online fandom, celebrity damage, and a werewolf problem. In late 2025 she also published the holiday short All Wrapped Up in You. Her next novel, Villain Edit, is scheduled for December 8, 2026 and continues that paranormal streak with vampires and reality TV.

Even as the premises get wilder, her interests stay pretty steady. Danan keeps returning to characters who feel slightly misplaced in their own worlds. Her heroines often carry class pressure, public judgment, family baggage, or plain old exhaustion. Her heroes may look confident from the outside, but they usually have blind spots of their own.

She has said she grew up on paranormal favorites like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Charmed, and that influence shows in the later books. Even when she adds curses, wolves, or vampires, the core questions stay grounded. How do two adults build trust? What parts of themselves are they hiding? What happens when love asks them to be a little stranger, and a little more open, than they planned?

Off the page, her official bio keeps things pleasantly unglamorous. When she is not working on a book, she says she likes jogging slowly to fast music, petting other people's dogs, and turning random fridge ingredients into her own private version of Chopped. From London, she keeps writing romances that are funny, frank, and a little unruly.
