Rogues of Redmere Books in Order

The Rogues of Redmere books are a little broader in scale than some of Samantha Holt's brisk Regency novellas. These stories still have witty dialogue and strong romantic pairings, but they feel more adventurous and more sweeping, with room for travel, danger, and the kind of emotional mess that suits a titled rogue very well.

They also have a strong sense of place.

Holt has said the series was inspired by time spent in Cornwall, and that coastal feeling carries through the books. Redmere itself feels like the sort of setting where secrets, storms, family history, and bad decisions would all fit naturally together. The atmosphere adds something extra. These are not just drawing-room romances. There is movement in them.

The heroes are, as promised, rogues, or at least men with reputations that make them hard to trust. The heroines are not the sort to be dazzled for long. They challenge, resist, investigate, and occasionally cause trouble of their own. That balance gives the romances their bite. Holt likes pairing men who are used to controlling the situation with women who refuse to cooperate, and this series lets her have fun with that dynamic.

Although the books connect, they tend to work as standalones. Each romance has its own central problem, and the pleasure is in seeing how the tone can shift from flirtation to danger and back again without losing momentum. The characters feel as though they live in the same world, but no single plot thread overwhelms the love story in front of you.

If you want Samantha Holt with a little more room to roam, more atmosphere, more adventure, and heroes who may deserve a bit of the trouble they get, Rogues of Redmere is a strong place to land.

It is still very much romance first. It just arrives with a little more sea air and a little more chaos.
