Series background & context
The Revved books take place in the world of Formula One, and that setting gives the series a strong mix of glamour, travel, and danger. Revved begins with Andressa Amaro, usually called Andi, a Brazilian race car mechanic who lands the dream job she has wanted for years. The problem is that the driver she ends up working around is Carrick Ryan, a famous talent with a bad-boy reputation and far too much charm.
The cars matter here.
Towle uses the racing world as more than wallpaper. Garages, pit lanes, media duties, hotels, and constant flights make the series feel busy and closed in at the same time. Everyone is always moving, yet nobody gets much room to breathe. That pressure suits the romance, because these are characters who have to keep showing up, doing their jobs, and pretending they are in control even when they are absolutely not.
The second book, Revived, stays in that same orbit but changes the emotional angle. This time the story centers on India Harris, a therapist who has rebuilt her life through discipline and hard work, and Leandro Silva, a Formula One driver whose body has recovered from a terrible crash faster than his mind has. The attraction is immediate, but so are the boundaries. One book is built around a mechanic who swears off drivers. The other is built around a therapist who should not want her patient.
That gives the series a strong through line.
These are not racing books in a technical sense. You do not need to know the sport to follow them. What Towle is really interested in is what happens to ambitious adults when speed, money, image, and fear start colliding with real vulnerability. Carrick and Leandro are both men used to risk, but the books keep pushing them toward a different kind of exposure. Andi and India, meanwhile, are smart, capable women who are not dazzled by fame for long.
If you like contemporary romance with an international backdrop, a lot of travel, and plenty of chemistry under pressure, the Revved books are a good fit. They are fast without feeling rushed, glossy without losing the emotional bruises, and connected enough to reward reading in order, Revved first, then Revived.
