Return to Christmas Falls is a shared-world holiday romance series built around a simple but very effective idea: a group of old friends are called back to their hometown by a beloved mentor, and once they return, Christmas starts working on them. The town is small, festive, and packed with memory. That matters, because these stories are just as interested in unfinished business as they are in mistletoe.

Christmas Falls is the kind of place that feels suspended between postcard charm and real life. People know each other. Old versions of you still exist in other people's heads. If you left in a hurry, or left hurt, or left convinced you would never come back, the town is not going to let you forget it. That gives the series its tension. The characters are not only returning to a holiday setting. They are returning to who they used to be.

Home has a long memory.

Becky Monson's entry, Once Again at the Falls, fits that setup beautifully. London Walsh comes back to Christmas Falls after learning that her ex will soon be her boss and that her parents are splitting up. She wants distance from the mess, but the town does not feel quite the way she remembers it. London is no longer the goth teenager people once knew, and there is something both funny and painful in watching her realize that the place she ran from still sees pieces of her clearly. Especially Andy Broll, the childhood next-door neighbor who recognizes her right away.

That is one of the nicest things about this series. The romances are not random. They grow out of history, shared places, old hurts, and the fact that going home usually strips away at least some of your pretending. Characters return thinking they are just there for a visit, a favor, or a bit of seasonal damage control. Then they run into the person who knew them before everything got complicated, and suddenly the emotional stakes get a lot bigger.

The overall tone stays cozy and hopeful. Expect snow, town traditions, pageants and local businesses, and the kind of holiday atmosphere that makes it believable for people to start over. But the books are not all tinsel. They also make room for family strain, career confusion, and the uncomfortable question of whether leaving was really the same thing as moving on.

If that sounds good, this is the kind of series to pick up when you want Christmas romance with a little depth under the sparkle. The shared setting gives it warmth, and Monson's contribution adds her usual strengths, awkward honesty, emotional messiness, and a heroine who has to decide whether running away still makes sense when home is finally offering something worth staying for.
