Retired assassin Dante seeks a quiet new life in the coastal New Zealand town of Te Kohe. His plans to escape attention are disrupted by local intrigue, opinionated cats and ghosts, making an uneventful retirement increasingly unlikely.

Dante’s attempt to settle into civilian life is interrupted when an orchid convention brings intrigue to Te Kohe. Surrounded by suspects and rare-plant enthusiasts, the retired assassin must navigate a fresh mystery alongside the complications of his unusual new community.

A local production of Macbeth stirs trouble in Te Kohe, where the same play was linked to sinister events twenty years earlier. Dante and his friends confront returning ghosts as theatre superstitions collide with the possibility of another murder.
