Series background & context

The Reggie Reynolds Romantic Mystery series moves away from the billionaire and crime-family settings that appear elsewhere in Mallory Monroe's work and into a more direct investigation. Reggie Reynolds is a political reporter who returns to her hometown of Honor, Alabama after the murder of her younger brother.

Coming home forces her to face much more than grief.

Reggie has history in Honor. Years earlier, her decision to report on judicial corruption set off consequences that damaged her relationship with her family and made many people in town question her motives. Now she has to investigate a death that others seem eager to dismiss, while sorting through a community's old resentments and its talent for keeping secrets.

Police Chief Phillip Robb is central to both sides of the story. He is connected to the official investigation, but he is also the man Reggie loves despite the strain and mistrust between them. That makes every lead personal. Reggie must decide who is protecting the truth, who is protecting themselves, and whether she can trust anyone when the stakes keep rising.

Honor is not an easy place to be objective.

The series combines a hometown murder mystery with a complicated romance and political pressure. It is a good fit for readers who like a determined reporter, a close-knit Southern setting, old family wounds, and a relationship tested by what each person is willing to reveal.
