Series background & context

Regency Tales feels a little more openly adventurous than some of Aileen Fish's family-centered series. The books still live in the Regency world of titles, drawing rooms, and marriage expectations, but they like bigger hooks: shipwrecks, lost identity, rescues, missing pasts, and a touch of fairy-tale logic under the surface.

That makes the series good for readers who want a slightly heightened setup without leaving the historical romance lane. The stakes are still emotional and social, yet there is often an external problem pushing the couple together. A heroine may wash ashore with no memory, or a hero may have to take action before society or circumstance closes in.

Masquerading as a Miss is the clearest example of that style, and the rest of the series keeps that sense of movement. These are not quiet courtship books. They are short Regencies that enjoy plot as much as atmosphere.
