Regency House Party: Somerstone is another shared-world Regency novella series, but its personality comes through a little differently. The books are tied to a summer house party at the estate of Countess Du'Breven, and that country setting gives the stories a relaxed, mischievous energy. Guests arrive with private worries, old misunderstandings, and family burdens, then find themselves pulled into the countess's social orbit whether they planned on it or not.

Because every book takes place around the same party, readers get the pleasure of seeing the same event from several directions. A side character in one story becomes the center of another. Isabel Townshend arrives with much heavier concerns. She is caring for her ailing father, looking after her younger sister, and protecting a family secret that leaves little space for romance. Their mismatch is the point. Under the countess's watchful eye and within the crowded rhythm of the house party, attraction becomes harder to ignore and much riskier to resist.

That balance between lightness and pressure is the series' main appeal. Somerstone often feels playful on the surface, but the obstacles are real. Class, reputation, money, health, and old emotional damage all matter. The books stay clean and accessible, yet they do not pretend love is simple. Each couple has to work through the version of themselves they brought to the party before they can imagine any kind of future beyond it.

If you like interconnected historical romances that do not demand a huge commitment, Somerstone is easy to recommend. The novellas can be read one at a time, and Kimball's book works fine on its own, but the shared estate is part of the charm. Read together, the series feels like spending one long, eventful week among guests who keep overhearing the wrong thing, meeting the right person, and discovering that a country house can be a very inconvenient place to guard your heart.
