Redneck

by Jordan Silver

2016

T-Bone Riley grew up off the grid and plays by his own rules. When he decides a college girl belongs on his farm, the story leans into an extreme captivity fantasy and the dangerous pull between fear, control, and desire.

Series background & context

Redneck is an intentionally over-the-top, taboo-leaning romance setup that pushes the fantasy of extreme possession into a rural, off-the-grid setting.

The story plays with a throwback, backwoods mentality, a hero who sees what he wants and takes it, and a heroine pulled out of her normal life into a world with very different rules.

It is not written to be gentle.

The tension comes from culture shock and control, and from the heroine figuring out how to survive the situation and what she truly wants once the initial shock wears off.

If you read Jordan Silver for boundary-pushing premises and high heat, this is one of her more polarizing entries. Start with Redneck, and go in knowing the tone is meant to be provocative and exaggerated fiction.
