Receiving His Mercy

Travis Andrews wants a calm, obedient partner, not the bright chaos of Caren. Unfortunately for both of them, when she needs protection most, he is the man who cannot stay away.

Series background & context

Raptor Inc. is a newer spin-off in Laylah Roberts' shared universe, and at the moment it still feels like the opening of something larger. The first book, Receiving His Mercy, ties back to Doms of Decadence, which gives it an immediate sense of connection.

This is a second-generation kind of world.

By that, I mean it feels shaped by characters who grew up around older Roberts couples and communities. That brings a nice mix of familiarity and freshness. The emotional pattern is still classic Roberts, a protective hero, a vulnerable heroine, misunderstandings, outside pressure, and a relationship built on care, but the cast is newer and the dynamic feels slightly more grown-up and settled.

The title Raptor Inc. suggests a more organized, possibly business or security-driven framework than a ranch or small town, and that suits the tone of Receiving His Mercy. Travis wants order. Caren is all color and chaos. The push and pull between those two energies gives the book its shape.

If the series continues the way it starts, it should appeal most to readers who like Roberts' connected contemporary worlds and want to see familiar circles widen. It is less about spectacle than about character chemistry and emotional repair.

For now, think of it as a fresh doorway into the same broad universe, one with room for new couples and a lot of crossover warmth.
