Series background & context

Pytheon Security is where Joss Wood leans hardest into romantic suspense. These books follow security specialists and former military men who are good under pressure, dangerous when required, and usually terrible at admitting what they feel. That combination makes for quick, high-tension romances with a real external threat running alongside the love story.

Cape Town gives the series a strong backdrop. The city keeps the stories grounded, while the cases themselves bring stalkers, criminals, and international danger into the characters' lives. But the suspense never takes over completely. Wood is just as interested in the emotional cost of a life built on risk, and in the kind of women who will challenge men used to going it alone.

Claimed by the Warrior introduces Jed Hamilton and the push-pull between protection and commitment. His Toughest Call adds a best-friend's-sister setup under criminal threat. In the Line of Fire raises the stakes further with a dangerous mastermind and a heroine caught in the crosshairs.

If you want the most suspense-heavy corner of Wood's backlist, this is the clear first stop.
